If there is one thing that the internet has done for us, it has given us the ability to compare prices and services more closely amongst different service providers or sellers. It was easy in the past to bamboozle consumers with complex pricing structures, and while it often still takes time and some sharp wits to plough through the information, at least it is far more readily available online.

Take car insurance companies not on comparison sites for example. In the past we may get a handful of insurance quotes from insurance companies but it was difficult to compare them. Level of cover per item; what is included; excess payment etc.
